Trip Prices
PRICE AND DISCOUNTS
Why do we show our tour price in US Dollars?
Our suppliers in Asia price all of their products and services in US dollars for
consistency.
Therefore, we have to pay them in US dollars.
To avoid having to re-price our
journeys every day because of currency exchange rate fluctuations (CAD vs USD), we simply show the
actual price
in US funds.
We therefore ask our Private Journey guests to pay us directly in US dollars by bank
draft or bank transfer.

What's Included? (and what's not?)
Some parts of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos can present a few challenges when it comes to getting things
done, so we take this into account
when planning what to include on each day of the itinerary.
For our entire journey, we include all breakfasts and many other meals in the price but we also
encourage our guests to try local cafes, restaurants and bars during their free time in many places.
Our
staff are always available to recommend great finds and our guests certainly enjoy poking about a
bit on their own.
We include all transportation, all transfers, all hotels, all club lounge access fees in Bangkok,
all taxes, Halong cruise cabins, all guides and drivers and driver's helpers,
all group luggage-handlers' fees, all internal air flights as described below, all cyclo driver
fees, all site admission fees including UNESCO sites, museums, temples, farms, boats, camps, Angkor
ID passes and the assistance of our own staff along the entire route. This approach
gives our guests a more carefree experience and reduces the hassle factor considerably.
Meals
Breakfasts: At our hotels you will wake up to a feast including breads, rolls,
croissants, pastries, yogurt, tropical fruits, cereals, omelettes, eggs, cheeses, meats, and Asian
dishes including congee, roasted fish and vegetables of every kind. Add to this some of the best
fruit juices anywhere and coffee that only the French could have invented! Breakfast will often be
able to carry you right through lunchtime and up to dinnertime, so there may be days where you
really may not need lunch at all.
Selected Lunches and Dinners: Whenever it is more convenient to eat lunch as a
group we will do so and the cost is included. Usually this happens during an especially full day of
sightseeing where it would be best to enjoy a quick lunch together and carry on. Dinners are
included if we think our guests would especially enjoy a specific restaurant, usually one of our
favourites, or in locations where our guests may not yet be familiar with the culture and/or layout
of the
city or town.
It would be unwise on this trip to include all meals since the selection of excellent eating and
drinking places is outstanding throughout these countries. Our guests continually tell us that they
loved the freedom to choose where they wanted
to eat on certain days rather than eating with the group at every meal. We agree and we believe we
have this well-designed.
All meals which are included in the price are indicated on the detailed itinerary. Please see our
Summary on Extra Costs (button below) for an estimate of the likely cost of those meals which are
not included.
Transportation
We include all transportation whenever the group moves from one place to another. This includes our
comfortable and private vehicles, private rickshaws and cyclos, songthaews, tuktuks, elephants and
more.
We also include all four internal flights during the journey on modern turbo
props and jet aircraft.
- Hanoi-Danang
- Danang-Siem Reap
- Siem Reap-Luang Prabang
- Luang Prabang-Bangkok
Transfers
Unlike many other travel companies, we include all transfers throughout the entire trip: private arrival transfer in Hanoi between airport and hotel and the private departure transfer in Bangkok between hotel and airport.
Private Guides and Drivers
In many locations we will be accompanied by professional local guides and drivers.
Accommodation in all locations
We include a wonderful and varied selection of hotels as well as the Halong Bay cruise boat along the way. To see details of all our hotels, click "Trip Details" on the previous page then "Our Hotels".
Entrance fees, park fees and other fees for all sites included in the tour.
This includes (but is not limited to) the following items: Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ho's house, One
Pillar Pagoda, Hoa Lo (Hanoi Hilton) prison, Temple of Literature, Ethnology Museum, old quarter
cyclos, Water Puppet performance, UNESCO ticket fees in Hoi An, fisherman and farmer village fees,
monk fees, the Angkor Park pass, entrance to all temples and
monuments including Angkor Thom, Bayon, Baphuon, Phimeanakas, Ta Prohm, Angkor Wat and Banteay Srey,
Tonle Sap boat trip, Puok Silk Farm, Longtail boat and many other items.
If you were to travel through this region on your own, you would be paying significant amounts for
each of these items and others, separately, on the spot, every single day.
TrailFinders Documentation
We include a comprehensive Trip Planning Guide which is distributed about three months prior to
departure.
As well, we issue a daily journal and several local maps and recommendations which are
handed out along the way.
We also provide a pre-departure package containing detailed
instructions for your arrival, recommendations in case you are delayed in arriving in Hanoi, your
air tickets and itineraries, insurance information, a comprehensive packing list and more.
Plus
we include the full support of the TrailFinders' Tour Leaders and a few surprises along the
way.
Pre-Paid Extras
There are two additional items which are administered by TrailFinders staff during the journey on behalf of our guests, thereby freeing them from the hassles of finding the appropriate exact funds for specific items on demand. These amounts are collected from our guests at time of booking and while the amounts are not technically "included in the tour price" they are collected ahead of time to avoid inconveniencing our guests along the way. These items are:
- Group tips to guides, drivers, boat crews, assistants and other facilitators along the way; and,
- Visa fees for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. TrailFinders will obtain your visas for you.
What's not included?
We do not include the following specific items in the price of our land tour.
