PRICE AND DISCOUNTS

Why do we price some of our tours in US Dollars?

Our suppliers in South America price all of their products and services in US dollars for consistency.
Therefore, we have to pay them in US dollars.
To avoid having to regularly re-price our journeys due to currency exchange rate fluctuations, we simply price these journeys in US funds.
We therefore ask our Private Journey guests to pay us directly in US dollars by bank draft on the date of payment.

Consequently, the trip overall price for the majority of our guests will be US$ 11745 (plus the tip kitty).

Comparing Prices?

For those of you who are comparing the prices this year against the prices of previous years, we offer the following information.

Our Chile and Argentina trip in 2012: Price was US$ 10590 and Single Supplement was US$ 3240
Our Chile and Argentina trip in 2015: Price was US$ 11538 and Single Supplement was US$ 3022

Granted, the price is slightly higher this year, but the overall increase is not as much as we had expected.

DETAILS OF INCLUSIONS

What's Included? (and what's not?)

Some parts of South America can present a few challenges when it comes to getting things done well while other places are easily explored, so we take this into account when planning what to include along the way.
For our entire journey, we include all breakfasts and many other meals in the price but we also encourage our guests to try local restaurants and bars along the way during their free time. Our staff are always available to recommend great finds and our guests certainly enjoy poking about a bit on their own.
We include all transportation in Chile and Argentina, all transfers, all hotels, all guides and drivers and driver's helpers, all group luggage-handlers' fees, all internal air flights and baggage costs, all site admission fees, all outdoor adventures in Patagonia and the assistance of our own staff along the way. This approach gives our guests a more carefree experience and reduces the hassle factor considerably.

Meals

Breakfasts: At most of our hotels you will wake up to a nice breakfast including breads, rolls, pastries, yogurt, fruit, cheeses and meats, cake, cereals and eggs. Add to this excellent fruit juices and coffee!
Selected Lunches and Dinners: Whenever it is more convenient to eat lunch as a group we will do so and the cost is included. Usually this happens during an especially full day of sightseeing where it would be best to enjoy a lunch together and carry on. Dinners are included if we think our guests would especially enjoy a specific restaurant, usually one of our favourites.
It would be unwise on this trip to include all meals since the selection of excellent eating and drinking places is outstanding. Our guests continually tell us that they loved the freedom to occasionally choose where they wanted to eat on certain days rather than eating with the group at every meal. We agree and we believe we have this well-designed.
All meals which are included in the price are indicated on the detailed itinerary. Please see our Summary on Extra Costs (button below) for an estimate of the likely cost of those meals which are not included.

Transportation

We include all transportation whenever the group moves from one place to another. This includes our comfortable and private buses and minibuses, private vans and shared boats.
We also include all domestic air flights on modern aircraft.

Transfers

Unlike many other travel companies, we include all transfers throughout the entire trip including initial arrival and final departure transfers.

In all locations we will be accompanied as required by professional local guides and drivers.

Hotel accommodation in all locations

Entrance fees, park fees and other fees for all sites included in the tour.

TrailFinders Documentation

We include a comprehensive Trip Planning Guide which is distributed to our guests about three months prior to departure.
We also provide a pre-departure package containing detailed instructions for your arrival, a comprehensive packing list and more.
As well, we often issue a few local maps and other related information along the way.
Plus we include the full support of the TrailFinders' Tour Leader and a few surprises as well.

Pre-Paid Extras

Tips for guides, drivers and other helpers are administered by TrailFinders staff during the journey on behalf of our guests, thereby freeing them from the hassle of finding the appropriate exact funds for specific items on demand. These amounts are collected from our guests at time of final payment and while the amounts are not technically "included in the tour price" they are collected ahead of time to avoid inconveniencing our guests along the way.

What's not included?

We do not include the following specific items in the price of our land tour.

• International air between Canada and South America. We are experts in international airfares and can help you decide which routing, airline, arrival day and time would be best for you. Please call us at 613-789-1900 or 888-765-7662 and we can discuss these and other options with you. If you are arranging your own air transportation, please check with us first.
• Travel Insurance premiums
• Visit to a Travel Medicine clinic and any prescribed vaccines or tablets
• As on any trip, you will of course be expected to pay on the spot for your own personal expenses such as drinks, laundry, souvenirs and so on.

International Air Recommendations

We are well aware of all airlines and all routings between Canada and South America and are available to assist you in determining your best option in economy, premium economy and business class. Even if you are planning to book your own air tickets, please speak with us first and we can discuss your options.
For those of you who are planning to use Aeroplan points to book air seats, we recommend that you do this well in advance and that you should attend TrailFinders Air Seminars before trying to use the Aeroplan site. Points seats are severely limited on each aircraft and they go fast, especially in Business Class. Again, please speak with us first.
