DETAILS OF INCLUSIONS

General

Just like most of our Private Journeys, we include all transfers, transportation, hotels, guides and drivers and driver's helpers, hotel luggage-handlers, group activities, all site visits and the assistance of our own staff along the way. This approach gives our guests a more carefree experience and reduces the hassle factor considerably.

Meals

We have also included most lunches and dinners along the way and a few secret happy hours as well.
However, we have also chosen to leave one lunch and two dinners open to allow our guests to enjoy eating whatever, whenever and wherever they prefer on these days.

Breakfasts: All breakfasts are included. You will wake up each morning to a feast including breads, rolls, pastries, yogurt, fruit, cereals, eggs and meats.

Lunches and Dinners: There will be a wide-selection of foods offered throughout the trip. Some restaurants will be very nice indeed.

Transportation

We include all transportation whenever the group moves from one place to another including local flights within South Africa and Botswana.

Transfers

Unlike many other travel companies, we do include the arrival and departure transfers.

Private Guides and Drivers

In all locations we will be accompanied by professional local guides and drivers.

Hotel accommodation in all locations

Entrance fees, park fees and other fees.

This tour includes a relatively large number of national parks and cultural sites, each of which charge admission. These costs are all included in the tour price.
If you were to travel through this region on your own, you would be paying significant amounts for each of these items, separately on the spot, every single day.

TrailFinders Documentation

We include a comprehensive Trip Planning Guide which is distributed about three months prior to departure.
We also provide a pre-departure package containing detailed instructions for your arrival, a comprehensive packing list and more.
Plus we include the full support of the TrailFinders' Tour Leader and a few surprises along the way.

Pre-Paid Extras

The payment of group tips is administered by TrailFinders staff during the journey on behalf of our guests, thereby freeing them from the hassles of reaching in their pocket every few hours to tip guides, drivers, trackers, facilitators, hotel staff and so on. The tip amounts are collected from our guests prior to departure. While they are not technically "included in the tour price" they are collected ahead of time to avoid inconveniencing our guests during the trip.

What's not included?

We do not include the following specific items in the price of our tour.

  • International air between Canada and Southern Africa. We are experts in international airfares to this region and can help you decide which routing and airline would be best for you. Please call us at 613-789-1900 or 888-765-7662 and we can discuss current options with you. If you are arranging your own air transportation, please check with us first to be sure you are aware of all necessary considerations.
  • Travel Insurance premiums
  • Visit to a Travel Medicine clinic and any prescribed vaccines or tablets
  • As on any trip, you will of course be expected to pay on the spot for your own personal expenses such as any meals that are not included, drinks, laundry, souvenirs and so on.

International Air Recommendations

We are well aware of all airlines and all routings to and from Canada and are available to assist you in determining your best option. This will include flights through one or more of the standard European or African hubs. If you are planning to book your own air tickets, please speak with us first.
For those of you who are planning to use Aeroplan points to book air seats, we recommend that you do this well in advance. Points seats are severely limited on each aircraft and they go fast, especially if you are looking for Business Class seats. Again, please speak with us first since we may be able to recommend good routings and airlines applicable to Aeroplan contracts.
